Field trials of high temperature IRZ PCP downhole gauges in Tatarstan

IRZ high-temperature downhole gauges have been tested as part of PCP systems in steam injection wells in Alshanchinskoye field in Tatarstan. In total, 3 downhole gauge systems were tried in field. Each system is based on a quartz high-temperature gauge rated to 220 °C.

Inputs and Brief Case studies

Well 15271

  • Completed in September 2018
  • Cable length: 260 m to wellhead and 80 m along the surface
  • In March 2019 the well was converted to steam injection for two months at 182 °C. Then returned to production at about 100 °C
  • Current run life: over 11 months

Well 20950

  • Completed in December 2018
  • Cable length: 260 m to well head and 200 m along the surface
  • Right after run in hole the well was converted to steam injection at 184 °C. Injection was under way up to mid February 2019. Then, while trying to convert the well to production, the assembly jammed. The tools were pulled out of hole.
  • The downhole gauge is pending re-installation

Well 15075

  • Completed in February 2019
  • Cable length: 260 m to wellhead and 140 m along the surface
  • Currently the downhole gauge is in use at 147 °C
  • Current run life: over 5 months
